Llongyfarchiadau! Congratulations to Llaeth y Llan on winning Food Producer of the year 2022.
Why did you enter the Wales Food and Drink Awards
It really was important for us as a company to support the event in it’s inaugural year. The Welsh Food and Drink sector has so much talent within the industry and Wales produces world class food and drink, it’s vital we promote and champion this.
What does winning a Wales Food and Drink Award mean to your business?
We really didn’t expect to win when the shortlist was announced, we were up against some amazing companies. To win was without doubt the highlight of 2022 for our Business. It really is such wonderful recognition for the amazing team we have here at Llaeth y Llan.
How do you strive to make a difference in the Wales Food and Drink market?
Every day we try and improve on what we do. We try and re-invest as much as we can in manufacturing capabilities to offer our customers the best possible products. Adding value back in to the market is paramount so we have to keep developing what we do. Our family history and location is also a key USP for us and we try and convey this as much as we can through our marketing.
What do you see as the biggest challenge for the sector?
Inflation continues to be the a challenge for every business. The continued rise in energy and input costs are driving companies to look at more sustainable and efficient ways of working. Some sectors have really suffered with labour shortages post pandemic and keeping a skilled workforce is so important for Businesses to keep developing.
What are your goals for the next 12 months?
Continue to re-invest and develop manufacturing capabilities. Deliver our Marketing and sustainable projects as well as drive further NPD.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned in the past year as a company?
“You never know what’s around the corner”…….What’s great about working for a developing Business is you are learning every day. There will always be situations or negotiations where you think could we have done more or was that the correct decision. We are always striving to make our company more robust to be able to withstand some of the monumental challenges we have faced in recent years.
What is one piece of advice would you give to any aspiring business owner?
Be resilient and remember ”If it was easy everyone would be doing it!”
What did you think of the awards ceremony?
Fantastic, last year ceremony was simply brilliant. We would like to thank all the organisers and headline sponsors for hosting the event that recognises everything that is great about Welsh Food and Drink and the amazing people that work within this wonderful sector.
