Llongyfarchiadau! Congratulations Adam Jones on Winning Wales Food and Drink Apprentice of the Year 2024.
How does it feel a few months on from winning the award?
It still feels very surreal to be in this position as Wales’s Food and Drink Apprentice of the year 2024. I am extremely proud to have been chosen as the winner amongst such a high quality standard of entries
What is one piece of advice that you would give to any aspiring business owner?
Higher an apprentice and invest in your workforce to get the best out of them. I have completed a level 2 & 3 butchery qualification and I have also won Welsh butcher of the year 2023 since singing up with Coleg Cambria. Both Coleg Cambria and my employer Swans Farm shop have brought out the best in me and have pushed me to achieve more than I thought possible. If you invest in your staff they will give back 100% in everything that they do
How do you strive to make a difference in the Wales Food and Drink market?
To change the way in which the Welsh population look at meat. I want to show them what high quality meat is in comparison to supermarkets and to help them understand where their food comes from and how to cook with it
What do you see as the biggest challenge for the sector?
High prices of ingredients and a lot of the time it being cheaper to import second grade products
Who is your Food and Drink hero?
Gordon Ramsey as he has a great attitude towards the food industry and strives to use high quality ingredients
